What's A Gerber File?

Not a small rodent or a brand of baby food, Gerber is the industry standard file format used to produce PCBs. We accept both 274-X and 274-D format data. When you extract Gerber data from your design file, it translates your single board file into multiple different files that our NC drilling and routing machines, photoplotters and bare board testing machines need for production.

A simple 2 layer PCB will generate the following Gerber plot data:

  • Top Copper
  • Top Mask
  • Top Silkscreen
  • Bottom Copper
  • Bottom Mask
  • Bottom Silkscreen

Depending on your software package it may also provide:

  • Drill Files
  • Mechanical Layer(s)
  • Board Outline
  • Paste Layer(s)

When you send data for quotation, don't be afraid to add relevant information in a text file or a line drawing as part of the Gerber data. Such information might include the weight of the copper material and the colour of the legend.

What's Your Minimum Order Quantity?
